Now the company will return the entire amount in the form of a discount

Last year, shortly after announcing Apple’s transition from Intel processors to in-house solutions, the company began shipping the Mac mini DTK (Developer Transition Kit), a test PC based on the Apple A12Z Bionic. True, those who wish had to pay $ 500 for it.

Apple can sometimes surprise you by changing its position in favor of customers. The company changed the rules for returning test Mac mini DTK PCs

And the other day, Apple announced that it recalled these devices – the company had warned about this from the beginning. But there were also details that Apple was not going to give back $ 500 to anyone. Instead, test PC owners were promised $ 200 worth of promotional codes to purchase any Apple M1 PC.

Naturally, many did not like this approach. Someone just complained that $ 300 for renting a PC for several months is unfair, and the difference of $ 200 is not returned in cash. And someone pointed out that he had been waiting for several months for a non-working test Mac mini to be replaced; that is, he did not really have time to use it.

Surprisingly, Apple responded quickly to criticism and in favor of the critics. The company promises a $ 500 discount, and you can use them when buying any product, provided that it is indicated in the quote. If earlier the discount had to be used until May 31, it would now be valid until the end of the year.

We’ve heard your feedback on the $ 200 bonus mentioned in our last email. We intended to acknowledge the tremendous effort you’ve put into creating amazing universal apps. By partnering with us early on, you’ve demonstrated your commitment to our platform and your desire to be a pioneer.

So instead of a $ 200 credit that expires in May, we’re giving you a $ 500 Apple Credit and extending the time you can use it to get your new Mac M1‌ until the end of the year. If you’ve already purchased a new Mac M1, Apple Credit gives you the option to purchase any Apple product that helps you develop your apps.

We will share the details on how to ship the Developer Transition Kit (DTK) back to Apple shortly. Please note that DTK will no longer receive publicly available software updates after macOS Big Sur 11.2. We recommend that you return it as soon as possible so that your development work is not interrupted. And once you return the DTK, you will receive an Apple loan.

As a result, Apple’s new proposal can be called quite fair.
