The logos of both companies contain images of apples.
Apple’s bitten apple is one of the most famous logos in the world, and Apple often sues companies whose logos even remotely resemble an apple.
Apple is suing the 111-year-old farming organization Fruit Union Suisse, which uses a red apple logo with a white Swiss cross overlaid on it, according to the latest reports.
Organization director Jimmy Marietoz said they were puzzled by the company’s approach: “It’s hard for us to understand this because it doesn’t look like they’re trying to protect their bitten apple. Their goal here is really to own the rights to the image of a real apple, which for us is something really almost universal, which should be free for everyone.”
Apple claims any images of apples.
This is not the first time that Apple has sued the company over its logo. In 2010, Apple entered into an agreement with a small Swiss grocery cooperative saying that it would never add a bite mark to the bright red apple logo.
In 2020, Apple was suing Prepear , a food preparation startup that uses a pear logo. Apple claimed that Prepear’s pear-shaped logo was similar to that of the iPhone maker. As a result, the startup had to slightly modify the logo.
