Looks like Google’s money has won
Apple could have bought the Bing search engine several years ago. Bloomberg reports that Apple and Microsoft were in talks on this matter back in 2020.
Apple could have bought Bing a few years ago and was in talks with Microsoft
If the deal were to go through, Bing would come under Apple’s wing and become the default search engine on the iPhone and other company products. However, in the end, the deal did not take place.
There is no exact data on the reasons, but there may be two main ones. First, Apple management believed that Bing could not compete with Google’s search engine. Secondly, Google constantly pays Apple for the fact that its search engine remains a basic solution in Cupertino products. Revenues from this deal amount to billions of dollars a year, and the amounts are constantly growing. Buying Bing would end the deal with Google and lose that source of revenue.
