Apple decided to fix and increase compensation from $ 200 to $ 500 for returning special Mac Mini DTKs to developers
This week Apple sent out letters to developers asking them to return the Mac mini DTK (Developer Transition Kit) computers designed to port applications to Apple’s Silicon platform. In this regard, the corporation was ready to give a discount coupon when buying a new Mac, but the amount did not suit many. Now Apple has decided to fix it.
Initially, to take part in the software optimization program and get the coveted Mac mini DTK, the developers had to pay $ 500, taking into account the need to return the device. The time has come and as a “thank you,” the company offered a $ 200 discount for returning the Mac mini DTK on the purchase of a new Mac with an M1 chip.
Users on the Internet were angry about this, and not without reason, because initially an amount was paid for the computer 2.5 times more. Apple listened to the comments and increased the discount to $ 500. And earlier, when Apple transferred its computers from PowerPC processors to Intel, instead of a development kit, which then cost $ 999, a brand new iMac on Intel was offered for the same amount.
By the way, the size of the discount was increased and the period of its validity – until December 31, 2021. And those developers who have already bought a computer on the M1 can spend this discount on any other gadget from Apple.
