Sub-screen Touch ID may appear as early as iPhone 13, while the foldable smartphone has just begun testing
Apple is preparing long-awaited innovations in its iPhone lineup. The editor told this of the authoritative resource Bloomberg Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman).
Apple is preparing a big change for the iPhone. Sub-screen fingerprint reader soon and flexible, foldable display in the distant future
Apple has begun work on a foldable iPhone model, according to the source. At the moment, prototypes are being developed for internal testing. So far, we are talking only about the screens themselves’ tests, and there are no full-fledged working prototypes yet. It is also noted that Apple has not decided anything definitively regarding the release of such a smartphone.
Apple is considering several foldable screen sizes, including one that measures the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max when unfolded. The gourmet believes that before the folding iPhone release, we are separated by “years,” and Apple may decide not to release such a device at all.
As for the new product for 2021, Gourmet confirmed that Apple could name the iPhone line, not the iPhone 13, but the iPhone 12S. And although the design changes are expected to be small, Apple may decide to take a step that has been expected from it for a long time – to implement the Touch ID hidden under the screen.
According to Gourmet, Apple is testing the in-screen fingerprint scanner with might and main. However, the company will not give up Face ID completely; the solutions will complement each other.
Mark Gurman has a solid track record of leaking Apple products over the years. Last year, for example, he unveiled the iPhone 12 lineup long before the announcement, and in 2019 the iPhone 11.
