In-house Apple processor for Macs will be not only powerful, but also cheap
Interesting details about the promising processor for Mac computers have appeared on the Web – Apple is developing it independently in collaboration with TSMC. According to the Taiwan Economic Daily, cited by a Chinese source, a single-chip system will be produced using the 5 nm process technology (this is no longer news), and its cost will not exceed $ 100. And the price, I must say, pleases. For comparison, the cost of the Core i5-8210Y used in the Apple MacBook Air 13 2019 is $ 281-393 depending on the volume of the batch. So on one CPU alone, savings of $ 150-250 are achieved. Of course, it’s far from the fact that a MacBook with a switch to its own processor will immediately drop so much in retail, but they can even become cheaper.
Apple laptops can become cheaper with the transition to their own processors
According to Taiwan Economic Daily, mass production of the first (or first?) Processor (s) Apple for MacBook will start in the first half of next year, and turnkey solutions on a fundamentally new platform will appear in the second half. In addition to lower prices and increased productivity, the new MacBooks will also boast increased autonomy – the 5nm SoC on the Arm platform will obviously consume less power than the 10nm CPU on the x86 architecture.
