Big Sur OS found support for Ryzen 5000 APU
Last week, Apple announced the abandonment of Intel processors in favor of its own Arm architecture platforms – TSMC actively helps in their development. The transition, as reported, will take up to two years, but it is possible that Apple will abandon Intel processors even earlier, and AMD APUs can replace them.
Apple may exchange Intel processors for AMD before switching to its own CPU
The Big Sur OS code, which mentioned the AMD Cezanne hybrid processors, was discovered in the next year, as part of the Ryzen 5000 family. To some extent, the Big Sur support for the new AMD APUs looks amazing, but on the other hand, the Ryzen 4000 mobiles turned out to be so successful that the transition of the MacBook to the Ryzen 5000 looks very logical. However, so far this is only an assumption.
Also in the Big Sur code is a mention of promising AMD graphics processors – Navi 21, 22, and 31. The first two will serve as the basis for ordinary consumer Radeon RX video cards, but on the basis of Navi 31 a video card will be built (one – for sure, but it is possible that several) Radeon Pro Along with them in the code Big Sur mentioned powerful graphics card Radeon Instinct MI100 and MI200. A lot is already known about the first, but the second may turn out to be a dual-processor version of the Instinct MI100.
According to preliminary data, the announcement of the Ryzen 5000 will take place at CES 2021 in early January next year, and laptops based on them will go on sale in the middle of the year. And it is possible that among these laptops will be the MacBook.
