The China Times says the company will begin converting products to its own chips later this year. Apple’s first in-house ARM-based computer should be the 12-inch MacBook, which hasn’t been featured in the company’s lineup since 2017. According to a report from The China Times, the laptop will be based on the yet to be revealed A14X chip. The new product is reportedly codenamed Tonga.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Apple is developing as many as three modifications to the Apple A14 processor. There is a chance that the base A14 will form the basis of the iPhone 12, the A14X will be the “heart” of the upcoming iPad Pro, and a mysterious third option will be prepared for computers.

It is worth noting that most analysts are still inclined to believe that the first Apple computer based on an ARM chip will be the 13-inch MacBook Air. In addition, it was previously reported that in 2021 the company will present the first iMac with a proprietary processor.
