Apple removes social network Parler from App Store due to lack of content censoring

It became known that Apple has removed the application of the social network Parler from its branded digital content store App Store. The reason for this decision lies in the lack of censorship on the platform, because of which inciting supporters of the current US President Donald Trump have not been blocked and continue to use it.

“ We have always supported the different views presented in the App Store, but there is no place for threats of violence and illegal actions on our platform. Parler failed to take adequate measures to prevent the spread of public safety threats. We have suspended Parler’s access to the App Store until the developers resolve these issues, ”Apple said in a statement.

First, Apple issued an ultimatum to Parler, demanding that the social network remove content that violates company policy, as well as provide an action plan to contain the distribution of such content in the future. Parler was given 24 hours to introduce the moderation system, after which the social network application was removed from the App Store. Previously, Google also removed the Parler app from its Play Store, citing insufficient censoring of posts posted by users of the network.

It looks like Parler took steps to avoid blocking, but they weren’t enough. This is mentioned in a statement from Apple, which said that “the efforts that Parler is making to contain and prevent the spread of dangerous and illegal content have been insufficient .” The statement also said that the social network will not return to the App Store until it demonstrates the ability to effectively moderate and filter dangerous and harmful content.
