Apple has halted smartphone production at its Wistron plant in India following riots that damaged offices, cars, and the theft of iPhones.

We will remind, last Saturday, workers at the Wistron factory in India, riots broke out during the night shift. Almost 2,000 employees demanded fair wages that were below promised.
Initially, Wistron estimated the total damage at about $ 60 million, later the amount was reduced to $ 3.5-7 million. The company continues to assess the extent of the damage in an effort to return the plant to full capacity. Sources say the incident severely disrupted Wistron’s iPhone business.
Apple halted production at the plant on the night of the riots and is working with Wistron and local law enforcement. Apple wants to know if its manufacturing partner was breaking pay rules.
“We have teams in the field,” Apple told Reuters in an email. “We immediately launched a detailed investigation at the Wistron facility in Narasapur.” Apple also said that its team includes auditors and that it strives to ensure that all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
