Apple to introduce more MacBook models with in-house processors in Q2 2021

Next week Apple, according to unofficial information, will unveil its first laptop of the MacBook family based on a proprietary processor with an Arm-compatible architecture. The pace of expansion of the corresponding mobile computers will be high – by February, the contractors must produce at least 2.5 million copies. The range of models will expand in the second quarter.

The Nikkei Asian Review, citing its own sources, reports that the volume of orders for the release of Apple laptops equipped with processors of its own design could reach 20% of what was produced for the entire 2019. The results of 2020 have not yet been summed up, it cannot be ruled out that the volume of production of Apple laptops in this reporting period will increase, but such statistics have not been officially disclosed.

In the second quarter of 2021, according to the source, Apple will introduce additional laptop models based on its own processors. The latter are manufactured using 5nm technology by TSMC. Apple is faced with the task of completely abandoning the use of Intel processors, which are now equipped with its personal computers in a couple of years.

Along the way, the company has to deal with a shortage of components for the production of smartphones of the latest iPhone 12 series, according to the source. There is a problem with the availability of lidars and power supply components. Therefore, it was decided to transfer part of the inventory of components from the iPad direction, as a result, the volume of supplies of tablets may decrease by a couple of million copies. And this is in the face of high demand for tablets, which is dictated by the preservation of self-isolation.

Initially, Apple planned to release from 75 to 80 million copies of the iPhone in 12 different modifications this year, but problems with logistics, a delay in the announcement, and a shortage of components are forcing the company to try to compensate for some of the demand with older models of smartphones. As a result, by the end of the year, Apple contractors will have to release another 20 million iPhone 11, iPhone SE, and iPhone XR so that store shelves are not empty for the New Year season. All these smartphones from the new batches will be deprived of the charger and the bundled headphones, like their successors. The iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone Pro Max are discontinued and are being replaced by their respective 12th generation smartphones. According to another source, the total volume of orders for the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE may reach 10 million units, smartphones of this generation are selling better than expected.
