Apple to return SD card reader to MacBook Pro

We previously reported that, according to the authoritative publication Bloomberg, the upcoming generation of MacBook Air will receive a slimmer body and support for MagSafe magnetic charging technology. Now there is information about future MacBook Pros.

Last week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the upcoming 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros will also get MagSafe support, a new design, ditch the controversial Touch Bar and boast an expanded set of ports. Kuo did not elaborate on which connectors were in question, but Mark Gurman of Bloomberg today announced that an SD card reader will be returning to Apple’s professional laptops. This will especially delight photographers who, with their current MacBook Pro, have to use a card reader or docking station. What other connectors Apple will add to the upcoming MacBook Pro is still unknown.

The new MacBook Pro is expected to ship in the third quarter of this year. They will replace the 13- and 16-inch Intel-based models that Apple last updated in May 2020 and November 2019, respectively. The base 13-inch MacBook Pro was updated with the M1 processor a few months ago.
