iPhone 11 barely in the top ten in selfie quality, but with a catch
DxOMark continues to publish this week a daily review of one front-facing camera of smartphones from different manufacturers. Today came the turn of the iPhone 11.
Did Apple trick everyone? iPhone 11 shoots worse than iPhone 11 Pro Max with the “same” camera
The front camera of this Apple smartphone did not score enough points to unambiguously enter the top ten DxOMark ratings. He earned 91. This is less than the other 12 smartphones in the ranking. However, in fact, his position is not the thirteenth, since in ninth place with 92 points there are four smartphones at once – iPhone 11 Pro Max, Google Pixel 3, Pixel 4, and Samsung Galaxy Note9.
Interestingly, according to the specifications announced by Apple, the iPhone 11 received the same front camera as the premium iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, DxOMark experts rated the iPhone 11 Pro Max selfie camera a full point higher for focusing quality.
At close range, the iPhone 11 focuses well. The difference is noticeable when removing, for example, the distance of a selfie stick. In such circumstances, the face goes out of focus, the result is worse than that of the iPhone 11 Pro or Galaxy S10 +. When enlarged and cropped, the difference becomes especially noticeable.
