Apple Watch will help users get rid of nightmares

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved an Apple Watch app that will help doctors treat users suffering from nightmares and post-traumatic stress disorder.

During sleep, the NightWare application will collect information about the user’s heart rate and send it to a remote server, where it will be analyzed and compared with normal readings. If the system suspects that the owner is having a nightmare, the watch will vibrate at a certain frequency in order to interrupt the nightmare without waking the person up. The main developer partner and sponsor is the Department of War Veterans Support, located in Minnesota, as many veterans suffer from psychological disorders after the wars. Technology like this can help them get rid of these problems.

The department declared NightWare not just a useful application, but part of a complete treatment that can only be ordered with a doctor’s decision. So you won’t be able to use the software without the appropriate help.

It is difficult to say how effective NightWare will actually be. However, this only reinforces the trend towards smartwatches as personal medical devices, promoted by brands such as Apple and Samsung.
