Apple will be able to maintain 40% share of the wireless headphone market by the end of the year
The market for fully wireless earbuds ( TWS) is dynamically evolving, with Apple having a lot of new competitors, so some sources expect the company’s share to decline this year. DigiTimes Research believes that Apple will be able to maintain its market position above 40% this year.
The capacity of the TWS headphone market, according to the source, will grow by 40.5% to 259 million units. On the other hand, the share of Apple will stop growing, so there is no reason to dispute increased competition in the segment. Realme, for example, already offers wireless active noise-canceling headphones for $ 50, which is five times the price of the comparable AirPods Pro when it debuted in 2019.
Counterpoint Research specialists look at the prospects of the TWS-headphones market this year a little differently. In their opinion, the total market capacity will increase by 33% from 233 to 310 million units. Apple is already content with only 31% of the market, with the prospect of reducing its share to 27% by the end of the year.
In terms of technical progress, wireless earbuds need to be further reduced in power consumption and miniaturization. In the latter case, new methods of arranging electronic elements will help; in the first case, we can count on expanding the use of the Bluetooth LE interface. The LC3 codec will help improve the sound quality.
