Apple will calibrate iPhone 11 batteries with iOS 14.5 release

In the new beta version of iOS 14.5, Apple has updated the algorithm for calculating the battery status on the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. As it turned out, the algorithm had problems, due to which the smartphone could display incorrect information about the actual capacity.

The consequences of shortcomings in the old version of the algorithm could be an unexpected shutdown even when a high percentage of the battery charge is displayed in the status bar or even a decrease in maximum performance.

As stated in the document posted in the support section, the update will recalibrate the values, and the process will take several weeks. The calibration notification can be seen in the settings under the battery section. After recalculation, the system can set new parameters on recommendations for reducing peak performance.

Apple also promises that in case of identifying problems with the battery, which could arise due to the algorithm’s incorrect operation, users will be able to count on a free replacement of the smartphone battery.
