Evans Hankey, who succeeded Jony Ive, will be the company’s last chief designer

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple has no plans to choose a replacement for VP of Industrial Design Evans Hankey when she leaves the company. Instead, Apple’s new product development team will report directly to the company’s chief operating officer, Jeff Williams, in a major internal change.

Apple plans to increase the role of key product designers in the team, but some employees do not like this, according to Gurman. He added that Alan Dai will continue to lead Apple’s software development team.

Last October, it was reported that Evans Hankey, Apple’s head of hardware design, was leaving the company three years after taking the job.
