Apple’s mixed reality headset will be able to track eye movements
Authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared yet another piece of mixed reality headset information that Apple is expected to announce in the middle of next year.
According to him, the gadget will receive an advanced eye-tracking system. It will emit lightly invisible to humans at one or more wavelengths and register the signal reflected by the eyeball.
The computing node will conclude eye movements and where the user is looking based on the information received. And this will allow realizing the control system using the power of the gaze.
Besides, the described solution will help save energy: knowing where the user is looking at any given moment, the gadget will lower the resolution of those parts of the image that are on the periphery.
It is also possible that the device will identify users by the iris of the eye. This will help in making payments.
Earlier, analyst Min-Chi Kuo said that Apple’s mixed reality headset would receive 15 cameras: eight will be responsible for projecting the environment onto integrated displays, six – for biometrics. Another camera is designed to analyze space to position objects.
