Are smart speakers a stillborn class? Their sales dropped 20% over the year

Most smart speakers come in the low-cost segment, and a low price cannot provide high sound quality. Many models on the market can perform certain functions, but basically, their sound quality is not very high, which of course, upsets users. Yes, it’s a smart gadget, but it’s primarily a music speaker that often doesn’t meet user expectations.

Also, smart speakers can only execute simple commands and conduct simple conversations with users. Simultaneously, the initial experience of use quickly disappears, and the frequency of calls to the speakers for help is reduced.

Someone uses speakers to control household appliances in the house, but most speakers support a limited number of models of household appliances. Also, users prefer to use smartphones for voice control.

A potential scenario is as follows: due to low quality and a small number of use cases, demand decreases, leading to a drop in sales. Manufacturers, getting less and less, do not want to invest in new technologies, so you should not expect something revolutionary in this market.
