ArenaNet To Release Guild Wars 2 On Steam And End Of Dragons Expansion Coming In 2021

The massively multiplayer role-playing game Guild Wars 2 hasn’t received major expansions for a long time – the most recent, Path of Fire, was released in 2017. But the anticipation for the next expansion will soon come to an end: ArenaNet has released a trailer for Guild Wars 2‘s third major expansion, End of Dragons.

End of Dragons will take players to the island of Kant, decorated in an oriental style. The location was last seen in the first Guild Wars. Dragons are likely to play a big role in the expansion’s storyline, but ArenaNet hasn’t revealed the details yet.

Additionally, ArenaNet announced the launch of Guild Wars 2 on Steam later this year. Since its debut in 2012, the game has been distributed via a separate launcher, but it looks like the company is looking to attract a new audience. Unfortunately, current Guild Wars 2 users will not be able to switch to the Steam version, as existing accounts will not be compatible with Valve’s service.

Finally, Guild Wars 2 has an undersea adventure update. Now owners of Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire can travel to the bottomless depths of Tyria.

Guild Wars 2 is only out on PC. It will hit Steam in November, with the End of Dragons expansion expected to be released in 2021.
