ARM has announced new flagship products that will be included in next-generation processors. Among them are ARM Cortex-A78 processor cores and the Mali-G78 graphic video accelerator.

ARM developments are always becoming the basis for the ultimate commercial mobile processors manufactured by Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung and Huawei. The latter, judging by the new US sanctions, will soon leave the mobile processor market and will use, according to rumours, solutions from MediaTek.

ARM calls the latest Cortex-A78 cores the best mobile company ever made. It is reported that the new cores will provide performance 20% higher than last year’s Cortex-A77, which can now be found in this year’s flagship smartphones.

Together with Cortex-A78, the company announced a new program, Cortex-A, in which ARM, together with other companies, will create custom processors. The first was the Cortex-X1, which is 30% more powerful than the Cortex-A77.

Also introduced were the new Mali-G78 and Mali-G68 graphic video accelerators. The first will be for the premium segment and the second for the sub-flagship. Mali-G78 has 24 cores, while Mali-G77 has only 16 cores. New 25% more productive than its predecessor. The Ethos-N78 neural processor was also introduced, which also shows a 25% increase in performance.

New processors with Cortex-A78 cores and Mali-G78 graphics will be presented closer to the end of the year. Smartphones based on them can be expected in the first quarter of 2021.
