ASRock Thunderbolt 4 AIC Expansion Card adds Thunderbolt 4 and DisplayPort to PC
ASRock has announced the Thunderbolt 4 AIC Expansion Card, which, as the name suggests, is designed to bring Thunderbolt 4 support up to 40Gbps to the computer.
The product is based on the Intel JHL8540 Thunderbolt 4 controller. For installation in a desktop or workstation, a PCI Express 3.0 x4 slot is required.
The expansion card has two Thunderbolt interfaces based on balanced USB Type-C connectors and two DisplayPorts. The product has a single-slot version with dimensions 76.2 × 101.6 mm.
The novelty provides the ability to output images in 5K format (5120 × 2880 pixels) at 60 Hz on one display. When working with 4K resolution (4096 × 2160 pixels) and 60 Hz, a simultaneous connection of two monitors is allowed.
The solution is only compatible with computers running the Windows 10 operating system. There is no information about when and at what price the card will go on sale.
