This year the plant can produce up to 70,000 cars
Currently, the Avtotora plant in Kaliningrad produces cars of the Chinese brands BAIC, Kaiyi and SWM. The Avtotor plant plans to produce from 55 thousand to 70 thousand cars this year.
Until last spring, Avtotor assembled cars from BMW, Hyundai and Kia brands. Production was suspended after difficulties arose with the delivery of components from foreign manufacturers.
Cars from world brands have given way to Chinese models on the assembly line. At the moment, the plant is actively producing vehicles from BAIC, Kaiyi and SWM: a total of 14 models of these brands.
Avtotor’s plans to produce Chinese cars have been announced
In 2022, the production volume of new cars at Avtotor decreased by almost four times, but now the company is experiencing significant growth in production dynamics.
In accordance with the investment contract, Avtotor must invest approximately 30 billion rubles. in the development of production. Almost 11 billion rubles have already been invested since 2019, and another 7 billion rubles are planned by the end of this year.
The company also plans to conclude a new investment contract in the amount of 70 billion to 100 billion rubles. It is expected that the holding will actively develop its foundry, production of plastic parts and electric motors.
