While the plant is not ready to name them

The head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, in a recent interview with Forbes, said that the plant is discussing the possibility of assembling cars of classes C and D with partners from friendly countries.

A Forbes journalist asked the following question: “AvtoVAZ started with Fiat, Italians. Then there were the French. Any plans to bring in global partners again?”

As a shareholder, definitely not. If only because, under the agreement, Renault has the right to buy back shares, the so-called call option, for six years. A technical partnership is, in principle, possible. We are an open company. Right now, the possibility of assembling cars of classes C and D at one of the sites, including, perhaps, Izhevsk, together with partners from friendly countries, is being discussed.

In response to a request to name these friendly countries, the head of the plant stated the following: “Until the agreements become final, I will not announce.”

He also stated that a front-wheel drive crossover based on the Lada Vesta platform with a high degree of localization should be released in 2025 .
