AvtoVAZ will resume production of all Lada Vesta models and Niva family SUVs with Euro-5 engines in December 2023, as stated by company president Maxim Sokolov on the sidelines of the Transport of Russia forum.
“During December 2023, AvtoVAZ will restore Euro-5 standards on all Vestas. And both Nivas will be Euro-5 during December, plus they will receive ABS,” said Maxim Sokolov.

Lada Niva Travel today is produced with an 80-horsepower 1.7-liter engine that meets the lower Euro-2 eco-standard. AvtoVAZ had to switch to it due to sanctions in 2022, when it was decided to assemble “anti-crisis” versions of the concern’s models.
The return of Euro-5 to the Lada model range began on September 1 of this year; such engines returned to the Lada Granta models.
It was previously reported that AvtoVAZ may significantly increase prices for all Lada cars in order to be able to produce new models.
