Now there are 19 SSJ-100 aircraft in the Azimut fleet
Vitaly Vantsev, co-owner of Vnukovo airport and Azimut airline, gave a long interview to RBC, in which he told a lot of interesting things. We also talked about SuperJet aircraft: Vitaly Vantsev does not rule out a scenario in which Azimuth will not receive the latest SSJ-New until 2035 – the airline will have to use the current SSJ-100 for another 12 years..
“ Our sacred duty is to maintain until 2035 the fleet of Superjet aircraft that Azimuth currently has. I do not know when the mass production of Superjet New with the Russian PD-8 engine will appear. To do this, such aircraft should be produced from 20 to 30 pieces per year. And what will happen in 2035? I don’t think you can answer my question about what will happen in 2026 not only in aviation, but in the country and the world ,” said Vitaly Vantsev.
Azimuth Airlines plans to fly current SSJ-100 aircraft with SaM-146 engines until 2035
And to the question “So you are considering a scenario in which the airline until 2035 will fly only at the expense of the current fleet of 20 aircraft?” he answered in the affirmative.
Recall that Aeroflot is a priority customer for SSJ-New aircraft. By the end of 2025, the company should receive 34 such aircraft (although not a single serial aircraft has been produced yet – five aircraft are at the assembly stage ). It is not clear how other airlines, whose fleets will not be replenished with SSJ-NEW (or will be replenished in scanty quantities), will cope. But there are already problems with maintaining the SSJ-100: in early June, it was reported that one in ten SSJ-100 engines was out of order .
