In the meantime, the first reviews of the game appeared on the Metacritic aggregator, which are still few, but the general impression can already be added up. The PS5 version has an average score of 80 out of 100 so far.

Need for Speed Unbound is a fun comic-style racing game that’s challenging and motivating, but a little over the top when it comes to police and story.

GamePro Germany (83/100)

With Unbound Criterion takes a big step in the right direction and offers exciting racing combined with thrilling police chases.

4Players.de (80/100)

Need for Speed Unbound is a great showcase for the next generation of hardware. Criterion has produced a high-quality, mind-blowingly fast open-world street racing game that’s technically superior and strangely familiar.

GamesRadar+ (80/100)

Need for Speed Unbound doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it tweaks it. Criterion Games wanted to stand out with their new art style, and they succeeded. It’s not the best racing game of the year, but it’s the NFS that wants the saga back in the top categories. Fun, fast and furious.
