Bethesda intends to release more online games like Fallout 76 in the future

Fallout 76 is one of Bethesda Softworks’ most critically acclaimed games. It received poor reviews from publications around the world and was attacked by gamers for many technical problems and lack of what Fallout is loved for. But Bethesda is not going to give up and is considering releasing other multiplayer projects in the future.

Talking to GamesIndustry, Bethesda Game Studios head of game development Todd Howard admitted problems with Fallout 76. However, this does not mean that the company was immediately ready to leave it.

“In the end, despite the challenges and the criticism we received, [Fallout 76] was played by a lot of people,” Howard said. – Not on the scale of a regular Fallout, but millions of people have told us that there is something in the game, so let’s continue. I am very proud of the team that worked on the game and improved it month after month. […] Without this community that makes the game their own and really believes in us, I don’t know if we would have achieved what we have now

Since the launch of Fallout 76, the developers have regularly updated the game: they have spent seasons, introduced a battle royale mode, and released the Wastelanders expansion. With the release of the latter, more story content in the style of traditional Fallout appeared in the project. The Fallout 76 experience is considered positive by Bethesda Game Studios, Howard said. While the studio is currently focused on developing The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, it is possible that it will target a similar multiplayer project in the future.
