Blade Runner re-release intro videos will get 4K and 60fps support

Nightdive Studios, with the support of Alcon Entertainment, has released a trailer for Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition, an improved edition of the classic 1997 quest.

Blade Runner

The video, just under 6 minutes long, is a side-by-side comparison of the intro cutscenes in Westwood Studios’ original Blade Runner and the upcoming re-release.

So, Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will receive support for 16: 9 format, 4K resolution, and 60 frames / s. By comparison, the original version ran at 480p (4: 3) and only 15 fps.

Recall that Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is being developed on Nightdive Studios’ own KEX Engine. The creators had to reverse-engineer the game’s code.

The remaster of Blade Runner promises to improve the character models, animations, and cutscenes on the engine, while maintaining the vision of Westwood Studios, and also add the ability to change the keyboard and gamepad layouts.

Despite the identical name, the interactive version of Blade Runner is not an exact copy of Ridley Scott’s film (Ridley Scott): the game tells its own story, developing parallel to the plot of the picture.

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition is expected to be released in 2020 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. At the same time, Nightdive Studios did not indicate the release date in the new video – it is quite possible that the remaster will be delayed.
