Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, citing his own sources, said that Electronic Arts plans to decide on Anthem’s future restart before the end of this week.

Recall that the multiplayer role-playing action BioWare was sent for a complete overhaul in February 2020, but since then, almost nothing has been heard about the project.

According to three Schreier informants familiar with the state of affairs around the restart, Electronic Arts will hold an internal meeting before February 14 on whether to continue development.

In May 2020, BioWare confirmed that about 30 people are working to reimagine Anthem. Schreier’s sources claim that the project needs at least three times as many people. Whether EA is ready to allocate an appropriate budget is unknown.

Anthem promises to rebuild “the core gameplay loop with clear goals, motivating challenges and meaningful leveling rewards” while maintaining the fun of flying and fighting with the restart.

Anthem debuted in February 2019 on PC (Origin), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Journalists and players did not receive the action very warmly – on Metacritic, the project has from 54 to 65%, depending on the target platform.

The action movie has disappointed not only gamers but Electronic Arts itself. The publisher expected to sell 6 million copies by the end of March, but Anthem failed to achieve satisfactory performance.
