It is reported that by the end of 2021, the group will have five cars equipped with an all-electric power plant in the model range. These are BMW i3, MINI Cooper SE, BMW iX3, BMW iNEXT, and BMW i4.

Electrification will also affect the next-generation BMW 7 Series flagship sedans. They will be available with four types of powertrains – a diesel or gasoline engine with a 48-volt electrical system, a hybrid unit with the ability to recharge the battery pack from the mains and a fully electric drive.

In the future, the same four power platforms will be available for the compact crossover BMW X1 and cars of the 5 Series family.

Overall, BMW is expected to have 25 electrified vehicles in its range by 2023, half of which will receive an all-electric power platform powered by an efficient battery pack.

We add that the all-electric crossover BMW iX3 on the fifth-generation eDrive architecture was recently announced. This car can cover a distance of up to 460 km on one charge.
