Various publications and online communities almost simultaneously started talking about the mass failure of SanDisk external solid state drives.

The Edge journalist Vieran Pavic lost data due to a 3TB SanDisk Extreme Pro failure. The situation is aggravated by the fact that it was a new drive that was sent to replace the old one, which also failed. SanDisk owner Western Digital recently released firmware updates for the 2TB and 4TB SanDisk Extreme V2 and Extreme Pro V2 models, but the issue has not been resolved and has spread to a wider range of models.

Brand-new SanDisk SSDs are failing en masse and are being sold at deep discounts

A PetaPixels employee discovered that a SanDisk Pro G40 drive he bought just a month ago stopped working with DaVinci Resolve video editor – he tried to work on another computer, but the problem disappeared only after removing the external SSD. As a result, the entire editorial staff of the resource abandoned products under the SanDisk brand.

Vieran Pavic updated his drive’s firmware, but the device still didn’t work. Western Digital does not provide clear answers to questions about the incident. At the same time, SSDs themselves began to be sold at a discount of up to 70%.
