Several users have had difficulty opening their applications on their Android smartphones in recent hours. Google has deployed a fix

Many Android smartphone users have had difficulty opening their applications in recent hours, reports the specialist site TheVerge.

On social networks and the Downdetector fault report site, French Internet users have indeed mentioned the case of Gmail that they were unable to open. Others have noted bugs in Deezer, Amazon or TikTok applications in particular.

According to Google, these problems are due to the update of Google Chrome and WebView, a system component of Android used to display web content in applications. “We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps to crash on Android for some users,” the teams told TheVerge.

Google has since indicated that it has fixed the problem but gives some advice for users who are still in difficulty. Thus, people still affected by the bugs in question must make two updates on the Play Store: that of their Chrome browser, and that of Android System WebView, as explained in the tweet below:
