5/5 according to ANCAP
After the BYD Yuan Plus, the Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) tested two more BYD models, including the Dolphin hatchback, and the BYD Seal sedan, which we already talked about today.
Both of these vehicles received five stars in the crash test program. BYD Dolphin showed the best result when assessing damage to other road users.
BYD Dolphin hatchback showed even better results in the crash test than BYD Seal
The BYD Dolphin starts at $24,535 in Australia. When assessing the protection of adult passengers, the result reached 89% with the maximum level of protection for the driver’s chest in the frontal displacement. That’s why the Dolphin scored 5.68/8 in the frontal offset test.
The Dolphin scored 86% for child occupant protection, scoring maximum points in both frontal and side impacts. When assessing other traffic injuries, BYD Dolphin did not perform the best, but it still performed better than BYD Seal.
BYD Dolphin security system received 77%. Unlike Seal, its AEB Head-On system showed better performance.
ANCAP was founded in 1992 as the independent vehicle safety rating system in Australia and New Zealand. This test is close to the Euro NCAP program.
