Call recording function in Google Phone app now available on Xiaomi smartphones

The Google Phone app is very popular, but not available on all Android smartphones. However, developers are gradually expanding the list of supported devices and adding new features. This time, network sources reported that support for call recording appeared in the Google Phone application on Xiaomi smartphones.

Google started working on this feature a long time ago. The first mentions of it were discovered by enthusiasts in January this year, and later they also managed to activate it. As you might expect, call recording support first appeared in branded Google Pixel smartphones, and then it became available to users of some Nokia models created as part of the Android One initiative. Now the network source says that the call recording tool has begun to spread among the owners of the devices of the Chinese company Xiaomi.

It should be said that Xiaomi smartphones running their own MIUI shell come with a built-in call recording tool. However, the company’s latest smartphones sold outside of China, India, and Indonesia come with Google Phone and Google Messages pre-installed, which have replaced Xiaomi counterparts.

According to reports, the function of recording conversations in Google Phone is already available to owners of global versions of smartphones Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 9S, and Redmi Note 9 Pro. This is reported by users on thematic forums, adding that in some cases the function disappears after restarting the device. It looks like Google is currently testing the ability to record calls, and later it will become ubiquitous.
