Canon PowerShot Zoom – compact camera weighing only 145g
Canon today unveiled not only the EOS M50 Mark II mirrorless camera but also the PowerShot Zoom shown in the illustration. In a press release in Russian circulated by the local office of the company, the novelty is called “a small and light camera”, but the word “camera” does not appear in the original. The term “monocular” is used instead. One way or another, according to the manufacturer, the device is “great for capturing family vacations in the fresh air or wildlife from a long distance.” In particular, it can attract amateur bird watchers.
Canon PowerShot Zoom monocular allows you to choose an EGF of 100, 400, or 800 mm
Canon PowerShot Zoom user can select EGF ( equivalent focal length ) 100mm or 400mm. The use of digital zoom makes it possible to obtain an EGF of 800 mm. The image is displayed on the electronic viewfinder. The monocular is equipped with an optical image stabilization system. With an EGF of 100 and 400 mm, the aperture is f / 5.6 and f / 6.3, respectively.
The image is formed on the light-sensitive surface of a 1/3 inch (4.9 x 3.6 mm) CMOS image sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. It is possible to save pictures in JPG format and video recording with Full HD resolution and frame rate of 30 fps with saving in MPEG-4, H.264. To store the footage, a microSD memory card is used. The camera is equipped with a stereo microphone and USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth interfaces. The wireless connection can be used for remote viewing and shooting using the Canon Camera Connect mobile app.
The advantages of Canon PowerShot Zoom include the minimalism of the controls. All five buttons are easy to press with one hand, and shooting parameters are fully automatic. The autofocus system is able to recognize faces in the frame.
Power is provided by a built-in 800 mAh battery. It takes less than two hours to charge.
With dimensions of 33 x 51 x 103 mm, the device weighs only 145 g. It should be on sale in November at a price of $ 300.
