Capcom Clarifies Removal of Erotic Photo Mechanic

Capcom Clarifies Removal of Erotic Photo Mechanic in Dead Rising Remake

Capcom has recently addressed the removal of a controversial gameplay mechanic from the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. The original game allowed players to earn points by taking erotic photos of female characters, a feature that has been removed in the remake.

A Shift in Focus

In a statement, Capcom emphasized that the decision to remove the erotic photo mechanic was not influenced by external pressures or a changing cultural climate. Instead, the developer explained that the goal was to create a more cohesive and engaging gaming experience. By focusing on core gameplay elements such as violence, drama, and horror, the team believes they can deliver a more satisfying and immersive title for both longtime fans and new players alike.

“The team was trying to find a balance between satisfying long-time fans and attracting new players,” Capcom stated. “Along the way, we realized that not all elements of the original game fit perfectly into the vision we had for the remake.”

Photography Remains a Core Mechanic

While the erotic photo mechanic has been eliminated, photography still plays a significant role in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Players can still capture a wide range of images, including violent, dramatic, and horrifying scenes, to earn points. This revised approach aims to maintain the core gameplay experience while aligning with the game’s overall tone and direction.

It’s important to note that while erotic photos can still be taken in the remake, they will no longer be rewarded with points. This change reflects Capcom’s commitment to creating a more balanced and inclusive gaming experience.

A New Direction for Dead Rising

The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 19. With the removal of the erotic photo mechanic and a renewed focus on core gameplay elements, the game aims to appeal to a wider audience while staying true to the spirit of the original.

As fans eagerly anticipate the release, it remains to be seen how this change will impact the overall reception of the game. While some may lament the loss of a controversial feature, others may appreciate the developer’s efforts to create a more modern and inclusive experience.
