CD Projekt RED denies the colossal size of the first day patch for Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED’s communications manager for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Fabian Mario Döhla, commented in his microblog about the size of the first-day patch for Cyberpunk 2077.

Recall that due to the logistical confusion, users of the American retail chain Best Buy began to receive their copies of the Cyberpunk 2077 collector’s edition for PS4 ahead of time.

One of the lucky ones turned out to be a user of the Reddit forum under the pseudonym delps1001. Among other things, the player shared a screenshot of the download process on his PS5 of the allegedly 56.3 GB day 1 patch.

As Dölä confirmed, in this case, we are not talking about updating the game, but about copying it. The above-mentioned patch has not yet been released at all, and it cannot be downloaded.

The fact that the size of Cyberpunk 2077 itself on the PS5 will be a little more than 56 GB has been known since last month: on November 27, a pre-download of the game suddenly became available to a user of the Russian portal DTF.

Recall that until the release of specially optimized versions (their release is expected in 2021) Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5, Xbox Series X, and S will work only in backward compatibility mode.

Cyberpunk 2077 will premiere on December 10 on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One, as well as GeForce Now and Google Stadia. Earlier, CD Projekt RED asked gamers not to start broadcasting the game ahead of time.
