CD Projekt RED price drops 29% amid Cyberpunk 2077 release

The capitalization of CD Projekt RED studio fell by 29% amid the release of Cyberpunk 2077, Gamesindustry.biz reports. This happened over the last week – since December 4, the value of the company’s shares fell from 443 (about $ 121) to 313 zlotys (about $ 85.6).

The reasons for the fall are not specified, but the publication connects this with the problems of Cyberpunk 2077 on consoles. After the release of the embargo on the publication of reviews, journalists highly appreciated the game – it scored 90 points on Metacritic on PC. However, after launch, owners of previous-generation consoles began to complain en masse about crashes, bugs, and poor performance. The game was also criticized by some Steam users – at the time of writing, it received 77% positive reviews in the store.

It seems that the situation could not even be ironed out by 8 million pre-orders, of which 4.72 million are on PC. Thanks to this, the project has become the fastest-selling on the platform.

CD Projekt RED reached its maximum value in August when the share price was over PLN 460 (about $ 125.9). Since then, the market capitalization of the company decreased due to repeated transfers Cyberpunk 2077 and publication in the media of overtime employees.
