So opponents of 5G networks are trying to hinder their deployment
Several cell towers were damaged or set ablaze this week in the Netherlands by opponents of a 5G network. This was reported by the local newspaper De Telegraaf.
Cell towers are also being raided in the Netherlands
According to the publication’s calculations, four incidents were noted during the week. In place of one of them, arsonists inflicted a slogan against 5G with paint from a balloon.
Statements against 5G have repeatedly sounded in the Netherlands. They were associated with fears that radio waves could harm human health. Also of concern is the risk that new technology could compromise privacy.
The Security and Anti-Terrorism Authority (NCTV) confirmed that “various incidents” related to cell towers, including their damage and arson, were recorded last week. According to NCTV, a possible reason is to oppose the deployment of the 5G network.
The primary telecommunication providers in the Netherlands are still conducting 5G testing. They have not yet started deploying networks in anticipation of the spectrum auction, which is due to end in June.
