Charging Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro with 120W was faster than the manufacturer said

Yesterday, ZTE subsidiary Nubia unveiled its newest gaming smartphone, the Red Magic 6. The device was the first on the market to receive 18GB of RAM and a 165Hz screen. However, Red Magic 6 surprises not only with this. The Pro version of the smartphone supports 120W fast charging, which, according to the manufacturer, can fully charge its 4500mAh battery in 17 minutes. It turned out that this actually takes even less time.

The Chinese YouTube channel CREATOR STUDIO shared the results of testing fast charging of a smartphone. Its owner decided to check Nubia’s claim that the Red Magic 6 Pro can charge up to 100 percent in 17 minutes. It should be noted that at the start of testing, the battery of the device was not completely discharged. Its charge level was 3 percent. Nevertheless, the result is quite revealing. From 3 to 100 percent, the device was charged in just 12 minutes and 7 seconds.

Recall that the Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro uses a proprietary 120-watt charger that uses gallium nitride (GaN) power cells. Due to this, the adapter has a sufficiently compact size for its power.

The Nubia Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro presented yesterday are based on the current flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. To ensure the stable operation of smartphones under prolonged high load, an active cooling system with an evaporation chamber and a small fan is used, which spins up to 18,000 rpm at the base and up to 20,000 rpm for the Pro version. The basic version of the device with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of permanent memory costs $ 590, while the Red Magic 6 Pro Transparent Edition with 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage will have to pay $ 1020.
