Chernobylite Launch Delayed To Q2 But Game Will Get More Content And Better Localization

The release of the full version of the horror film Chernobylite, which takes place in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, has been postponed until the second quarter of 2021. The Farm 51 was originally set to launch version 1.0 in the first quarter. The reason is not at all the quarantine measures against COVID-19, which many have recently referred to, but the desire to improve sound and localization, as well as additional materials and functions.

Chernobylite

The game has been in early access since October 2019, and the developers are constantly developing their brainchild with both major updates and various patches, publishing weekly reports on social networks. The Farm 51 and All in! Games intend to translate the game into more languages than originally planned. Thanks to the delay, Chernobylite will receive an interface and subtitles in Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese. In addition, all localizations have been completely rewritten and finalized, and Russian and English voice acting is now being re-recorded from scratch in the studio with professional voice actors.

This promises to make the dive more fun and exciting. Unfortunately, due to the scale of the game (Chernobylite has several times more plot lines of text than any of the studio’s previous projects), the process of adding and testing new translations was delayed and forced the launch to be postponed to the second quarter of 2021.

In addition to improved localization, there is other good news: most of the team does not participate in the translation, but they do not sit idly by. Over the additional months of work, they will be creating new content and gameplay elements that were originally supposed to come out as DLC. Now, these additions will receive the release version of Chernobylite. Among other things, a new location, weapons, enemies, improved interaction with other playable characters and a lot of fixes in existing mechanics and tools are promised.

Anyone who purchased the game in Early Access or supported the developers during the Kickstarter campaign will receive the new content for free as part of Chernobylite’s standard updates. The next major update will arrive this winter, as planned, with at least one more additional content expansion coming after it and before the premiere.

Finally, The Farm 51 has announced that the console version of Chernobylite is under heavy development and will be completed in the coming months, so the console debut will follow shortly after PC. The developers promise to continue supporting their project after the launch. The exact date of the premiere will be announced soon.

Recall: Chernobylite is a sci-fi RPG shooter with survival horror elements from the developers of the Get Even adventure. The game features a free exploration of the world combined with challenging battles, item crafting and non-linear storytelling.
