The Chinese company Loongson continues to gain momentum in the processor market at an impressive pace. Today it introduced its first chiplet CPU 3D5000. To be more precise, this is a line of processors, but we are most interested in the top solution, which will be discussed. 

Not only is this the first such solution in its class, except for AMD and Intel products, but in absolute terms there is something to evaluate. For example, the CPU has 32 cores, and this is not an Arm architecture. The novelty is based on the company’s own architecture called LoongArch, and in this case the company says that its solution is four times faster than Arm. Like many other CPUs from the company, the 3D5000 is aimed at the server market.

The 3D5000 contains two chiplets, each containing 16 LA464 cores. The CPU also has 64 MB of shared L3 cache (32 MB for each chiplet), an eight-channel DDR4-3200 controller, and the platform itself supports up to four processors on one board.
