China successfully launched the world’s first 6G communications test satellite

At 11:19 a.m. on November 6, the Long March 6 launch vehicle was launched from the Chinese Taiyuan Cosmodrome and successfully delivered thirteen satellites into Earth’s orbit. One of them, called the University of Electronic Science and Technology (University of Electronic Science and Technology), is the world’s first sixth-generation cellular test satellite, or simply 6G.

The satellite, also known as Tinian 05, was developed by Chengdu Guoxing Aerospace Science and Technology. jointly with the China University of Electronic Science and Technology, and Beijing Weinaxingkong Technology companies. Its main purpose is remote sensing of the earth. Areas that the satellite focuses on are urban construction, disaster monitoring in agriculture and forestry, and other industries that require similar services. In addition, the Tinian 05 will test terahertz communication loads. The satellite weighs 70 kilograms and is equipped with the equipment necessary for testing terahertz communications. In addition, it will become a global platform for space applications of the new communication standard.

Terahertz communication has many advantages, including high data transfer rates and ease of integration. It is one of the key sixth-generation cellular communications technologies that hold great promise for terrestrial and space communications.

Professor Xu Yangsheng stated that Tinyan 05 is the world’s first 6G test satellite. It marks a breakthrough in terahertz space communications technology in China’s aerospace industry.
