China Leads
While the smartphone market as a whole continues to fall, the foldable smartphone market is growing. Counterpoint analysts claim that it grew by an impressive 64% in the first quarter of 2023, to 2.5 million units.

Sales of such devices have grown in almost all major markets, except for Eastern Europe. Sales jumped the most in China (117%), the Middle East and Africa (197%), and India (967%). In quantitative terms, of course, China is in the lead, and it is many times superior to any other market.
Consumers love expensive foldable smartphones.

Interestingly, if just a year ago Huawei held 57% of the Chinese foldable smartphone market, now it shares the first place with Oppo: each company holds 27% of the market.
Further in the list of leaders appears Samsung with a share of 26%. Of the rest, it is worth noting Honor, Vivo, Xiaomi and Motorola.

Thus, we can state that buyers in general liked foldable smartphones. Users are ready to overpay for yet unusual devices, while often sacrificing some characteristics in comparison with conventional flagships.
