Coronavirus reached the games: Assassin’s Creed Valhalla found a reference to COVID-19

The events of the games in the franchise, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, unfold both in a particular historical period (in this case, the era of warring kingdoms and Viking conquests), and in modern times.

In reality, the world in general and the industry, in particular, found themselves shackled by the aforementioned pandemic: games are now and then postponed to a later date, conferences, and shows are transferred to an online format or completely canceled.

As it turned out thanks to the discovery of DualShockers, the unfortunate pandemic has not spared the Assassin’s Creed universe: in Valhalla, you can find a direct reference to COVID-19.

“No, I don’t have COVID. I am well isolated. There are only three of us here – we travel together and try to remain unnoticed, ” researcher Leila Hassan reports to her brother.

Such a clear reference to the COVID-19 pandemic raging in the real world is the first in the memory of a DualShockers journalist among mainstream games, especially such large ones as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches today on PC (Uplay, Epic Games Store), PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and S, and on November 12 on PS5. On Metacritic, the project received from 82 to 85 points, depending on the target platform.
