CD Projekt Shares Down 31% From A Record Peak In August
This week, the fantasy role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 was released, which has been in development for about 9 years, while the shares of CD Projekt, which began to fall in price on the 4th, continued to move in the same direction.
Cyberpunk 2077 drowns CD Projekt. Stocks are falling rapidly
The fall in stocks is directly linked to numerous error messages and crashes that appeared before the game’s release and intensified after the start of sales. In addition, even laudatory reviews did not help, since after the first “nines” and “ten” reviews of the console versions began to appear, which turned out to be practically unplayable.
CD Projekt’s shares fell 31% from a record peak in August when the market capitalization was PLN 42.5 billion. At the moment, the company’s shares continue to fall in price and analysts cannot yet predict at what point they will gain a foothold.
By the time of launch, Cyberpunk 2077 had already become a very successful project: pre-orders exceeded 8 million units, and revenue from sales of all copies amounted to about $ 500 million. On the popular gaming service Steam, the new Cyberpunk 2077 game has set a record for the number of concurrent gamers. The developers reported that 59% of pre-orders came from the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. The remaining 41% came from the owners of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
In addition, the first update for PlayStation and PC consoles has been released, which fixes various bugs.
