Cyberpunk parkour with katana: Ghostrunner gets a new gameplay video

During the German exhibition Gamescom 2020, All in! Games have partnered with developers from One More Level, 3D Realms, and Slipgate Ironworks to unveil a new twist on the gameplay of their cyberpunk first-person shooter Ghostrunner.

Cyberpunk

The video shows how the main character smoothly moves through the neon Dharma tower city – the last refuge of humanity after a terrible cataclysm. Shows running on walls, jumping on drones flying in the air, using special abilities for long and high jumps, moving along the monorail, pulling up with a grappling hook, controlling various objects at a distance to navigate through levels, slowing downtime and, of course, shredding various opponents.

Recall: Ghostrunner reveals the history of a world that has already died, but its inhabitants are still trying to survive. The streets of the tower city are dangerous. The housekeeper Mara rules over it with an iron hand and does not spare people. Resources are depleted, the strong devour the weak, and chaos consumes the last remnants of order.

The protagonist is the world’s finest swordsman, using a monomolecular katana and superhuman reflexes to dodge bullets in tough first-person combat, and swiftly move across rooftops using parkour. The time has come for the last battle – attempts to fix everything, until humanity finally died out. At the same time, the villains will have to be fought not only in the real world but also in “Cyber-void” – a visual representation of the internal network of the Dharma, in which you will have to hack systems and learn new abilities using a digital dojo.

After reviewing the temporary demo, Digital Foundry specialists were satisfied with the gameplay and visual component, which uses ray tracing methods. Ghostrunner will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2020. The page on Steam promises Russian localization only in the form of an interface – neither subtitles nor voice acting have yet been announced.
