Czech search engine Seznam sues Google for $ 417 million

According to Seznam, the American internet search giant has abused its dominant position in the Czech market with its operating systems and app stores for smart devices running Android.

“Based on the European Commission’s decision back in 2018, which confirmed that Google is violating EU antitrust rules, we are demanding compensation for the damage we have suffered while trying to distribute our applications and services through mobile devices with the Android operating system,” said the deputy Seznam Chairman Pavel Zima.

Google rejects claims of unfair promotion of its own products and services. According to the company, Android users are free to choose, and competition on the Internet is “just a click away.”

Seznam holds 25% of the Czech search market. The company’s revenue last year was $ 220 million.
