Data from over 100 thousand Razer customers leaked to the Network

It became known that the American company Razer, engaged in the development and production of professional equipment for gamers, has leaked data to more than 100 thousand customers. In mid-August, the problem was discovered by information security researcher Bob Diachenko. He contacted Razer and by now the manufacturer has resolved the issue.

According to reports, Razer client information was made available due to a misconfigured Elasticsearch server. Configuration errors caused the data stored on the server to become publicly available on August 18th. The researcher estimates that the leak affects more than 100,000 Razer customers, and the database in question contains information such as the full names of buyers, email addresses, phone numbers, and shipping addresses. Razer claims that the database that got into free access did not contain information about passwords and bank cards of customers.

It is worth noting that the day after the discovery of the database in the public domain, Dyachenko tried to contact Razer to report the problem. However, this could not be done quickly, and the database continued to be in the public domain for about three weeks. Access to it was closed only on 9 September.

“ We would like to thank you, sincerely apologize for the omission, and take all necessary steps to resolve the issue, as well as conduct a thorough analysis of our information security system. We remain committed to ensuring digital security for all of our customers, ”Razer said in a statement.
